Winnie the Pooh Day!

While this is certainly a bit late, the snow and ice has certainly had quite an impact on my daily schedule. I really hope things get back on track soon. But that’s not what this blog is about. Oh no, not at all. I came here to tell you that today, January 18th, is national Winnie the Pooh day!

Growing up Winnie the Pooh was always a beloved character of mine. Fun fact, it was even the theme of my nursery as a baby.

So I felt it was only necessary to talk a bit about the old bear himself.

Did you know the first appearance of Winnie the Pooh was in 1929 in a book? That’s right, he is over 100 years old! However, he wasn’t known as he was nowadays. No, instead he was known as Edward Bear. I’m curious to see the thought process that came along with the name change. It is quite a change from the name we know today, isn't it? I'm not sure if Edward Bear has the same ring to it.

It wasn’t until 1961 that Disney ended up buying the rights. From then, they continued to produce movies, books, tv shows and marketable things such as stuffed animals and clothes around the beloved bear.

This silly old bear has become a beloved figure and known name in households all around. So let’s give a round of applause for the bear, who has taught us to love and cherish friendships and take pleasure in sometimes doing nothing more than being and eating your favorite snack.

Drop below in a comment one of your favorite Winnie the Pooh quotes, here is one of mine:

“If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart, I’ll stay there forever.” —Winnie the Pooh
